The point of celebrating Mother’s Day
To have a day set aside in May – always on a Sunday – to recognize mothers (and also fathers, in June) is Judeo-Christian related. It is a form of remembering how Yahweh told Moses to teach, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12, NIV)

The truth about demon spirits killing souls
In the news recently was the headline: Lori Vallow Daybell found guilty in murder of her 2 children . I did not read the article; and, I did not recognize the name. On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Dateline updated this news, repeating the history that I had watched before. That reminded me who it was that had been found guilty in murder. What I heard in the television program was an element of this crime that I had not caught before. Perhaps the network had not worded it the s

Jesus spoke of the reality of hate
On television today there are multiple people promoting "God loves you," with a simple prayer repeated after the promoter bringing God and Jesus into one's life - presto chango. Of course, these leaders are more interested in getting cash donations to "do the Lord's work" than they are with saving souls. Imagine watching a television commercial that said, "The world loves someone with a master's degree; so, say this simple wish, 'I wish I had a Masters degree,' then click

Where to find the lost ark of the Covenant
Those who kneel down at the altar of Hollywood moguls, milking them for cash that will disappear like a wet dream when death awakens their souls from their bodies of dirt, dust and clay, seem to get a hardon these days coming up with new theories about where the ark of the Covenant will be found.

The lessons of Luke 16
I am led to address today the parable Jesus told that is known as “Lazarus and the rich man.” (Luke 16:19-31) I have written an in-depth breakdown of this whole story, which can be found by clicking on this link: The rich man and Lazarus . (2019) In 2022 I wrote a shorter piece, which can be read by clicking on this link: The man wealthy and the poor man God has helped .

Robert's back story
Recently, I placed focus on what I call “children’s church” education, where leaders of Christian churches (all denominations) have no ‘higher education’ as to the meaning of Scripture. The meaning of Scripture is not part of the core curriculum at any seminary school, although they might have courses designed to lead upper class students to prepare papers on what some famous person wrote about some portion of Scripture, as his or her interpretation. The “children’s church

Understanding the truth of Pentecost and the 'Easter season'
I believe it is very important for me to write about Pentecost. That is the reason for this writing; but I will need to give a little background first.

The duality of Cain and Abel
I watched a pastor on television this morning, whose sermon was on Cain and Abel. While he did not mention any of the views I came to see, which led me to write the short book The Cain & Abel Story: An Interpretation , listening to this topic brought about a revelation I had not seen clearly before. It has to do with two Biblical figures being metaphor for the duality that exists in all human beings. One mistake the pastor said was that Cain left Eden and went to Nod. That

The reality of Holy Week
Recently, I read of someone expressing joy that Maundy Thursday was coming this week; and, that was his or her favorite day of the church year. I did not read the explanation why; but I hope he or she changes socks and takes regular baths. I would hate to be a priest who had to wash the feet of someone like the TV character Al Bundy (known for having stink-foot when he took his shoes off).

The Resurrection
With Easter Sunday coming next week (after the farce timeline projected by “Holy Week” and Maundy Thursday and Good Friday [neither is factually correct, nor upheld by the text of the four Gospels]), it is time to reach out and lay hands on the slimy eel called “The Resurrection.” It is hard for most to grasp.

The heavens and the earth
The very first verse of the Holy Bible – Genesis 1:1 – has been mistranslated. The English translation every adult Christian knows is this: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” That is not what was written. The Hebrew of Moses (transcribed onto some form of scroll or paper much later in time) is transliterated as this: “ B'rëshiyt Bärä élohiym ët haSHämayim w'ët hääretz ” (qbible.com). My preferred source (BibleHub Interlinear) punctuates this, so it a

Spiritual Genealogy
I see television commercials advertising interest in genealogy. Learn more about your roots and where you come from, they say. My wife’s brother loved being able to talk about where the family name originated. My wife’s ex-husband (and thereby the children from their marriage) maintained dual nationality. His familial roots were from Italy; and, he instilled a pride in heritage that valued being Italian over being American (or Southern … from Alabama). The problem with thi

Teach us to pray, like John taught his disciples
In the news recently have been reports of some lengthy or ongoing public prayer held somewhere, with the news of this happening in one place spreading to movements to make the same thing happen in other places. In my own local environment the news has covered a meeting of a similar kind of appreciation for prayer, where music was added to the gathering. The local news cameras showed people (mostly women) with arms raised in the air and obviously in some form of prayer. The

2 Kings 5:1-3, 7-15c - Being Baptized by the Spirit and made clean
[ 1 ] Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man and in high favor with his master, because by him Yahweh had given victory to Aram. The man, though a mighty warrior, suffered from leprosy. [ 2 ] Now the Arameans on one of their raids had taken a young girl captive from the land of Israel, and she served Naaman's wife. [ 3 ] She said to her mistress, "If only my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy." ----- [ 7

Spiritual Discernment, Part 2: The Christmas Story of Luke Discerned
The Christmas Story has long been misconstrued. It has become so commonly known that nobody looks at it with discerning eyes and sees the truth presented by the words. The story is like Jesus told the Pharisees: “I give thanks to you , Father , Lord of this of soul kai of this of flesh , because you have hidden these away from of clever kai of intelligent , kai you have revealed them to simple-minded ones . ” This verse says two things. First, it has Jesus ad

Spiritual Discernment, Part 1: The Basics
The definition of “discernment,” according to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary is this: “1. the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure; 2. an act of perceiving or discerning something.” The etymology is suggested to come from the Middle French word “ discernement .” In Old French, the infinitive verb “ discerner ” was defined in Old English to mean: “to discern, or to distinguish one thing from another; also, to part, separate, sever, divide asunder; to ma
