John 5:16-18 - [Jesus] speaks for the Father

This section of John’s fifth chapter appears to be Jesus being confronted by the Pharisees (the Judaism police), where he explained the relationship of a Father to a Son.  This is most important to grasp firmly.  For that reason, the literal translation will be the main focus here, rather than the translation found in Bibles presenting typical English translations of the Greek.


Verse 16 begins with a capitalized Kai, which in all presentations must be read as a symbol or sign that importance follows.  In the lower-case spelling, this importance will be in a segment of words, even just one word; but in the capitalized form this denotes the whole verse (multiple segments, if that is the case) is important to comprehend.


That which follows then places much importance on “through this” or “on account of this.”  This relates back to verse 15, where “he reported” (the healed lame man) “to them Jews saying Jesus [Yahweh Saves] he is this having made of him restored.”  Thus (following a comma mark), “they were pursuing them Jews which Jesus [Yahweh Saves]”.  This means they found “Jesus” the man and confronted him, “because these things he was doing upon to sabbath.”


 The importance is then the lack of understanding the meaning of Yahweh blessing the Sabbath and making it a Holy day of rest that His people must always recognize.  The misunderstanding is then the reduction of an ongoing and still continuing “Sabbath” that was when Yahweh completed His Creation, making it Holy by the Creation of a Holy Man that would be the soul redeemer sent to earth.  The “Sabbath” is then every day since, not just one day in a “week” of days.


Verse 17 has brackets around the word (in Greek) Ἰησοῦς, which states “Jesus,” but the brackets are a statement that “Jesus” did not physically speak.  They say this is inference, where this comes from spiritually understanding, thereby adding this like an aside.  John did this often; and some translations will totally omit bracketed text from the translation into English.  They act as if it was not written.  However, here the word is translated as “Jesus” speaking, when the meaning behind the name is “Yahweh Saves,” such that the Father is speaking through the Son.  That can be the healed man speaking, as “Jesus” was then within him spiritually.

This seen, the verse then begins by stating, “this (aspect of the Sabbath) now [coming through Jesus] he [Yahweh] responded to them [the Jews].”  Following a comma mark, that response said, “This Father of me,” such that the capitalized Ho is less about a new statement beginning and more about a pronouncement that says “This responding” is importantly the “Father,” where the capitalized Patēr is an important statement about Yahweh and “This” who is speaking in response (about the Sabbath).  The lower-case mou is the Genitive possessive pronoun that says “of me,” where the point being made (about the Sabbath) is “This” restriction is only applicable to those who are “of me,” with Yahweh being their “Father.”  It is not for everyone to recognize and honor.  This restriction is “until this time he is committing” to serve Yahweh as His Son.  The Pharisees failed to serve Yahweh, as they served themselves as the only ones to understand the Law, which meant they were not “Yahweh Saved.”


With that said, a comma mark leads to the word kagō, which makes a statement about addition being made whereby one is “likewise” able to identify with Yahweh, as “I also,” where “both” soul and Spirit are possessed by Yahweh.  At this time that a soul is one with Yahweh, then “both” that soul and Yahweh are “committing” to “I AM.”  The name of Yahweh is YHWH, which means “I AM WHO I AM.”  This is very important to grasp.  Yahweh spoke to the Pharisees, through His Son’s mouth, telling them Him Son was the model for all souls “committing” to serve Yahweh.  Those are the ones who see every day as a Sabbath, as all they do is Holy, for Yahweh.


Verse 18 then begins with a capitalized Dia, stating “By reason of this accordingly,” where the Pharisees became jealous of Jesus, who spoke the truth of Yahweh, where his reference to “This Father of me” could not be heard as possible for all of the Pharisees, if they ceased following their brains and became “committed” to serving Yahweh.  Thus, “according” and “certainly” (oun) the Pharisees would “rather” serve themselves and be rich men as elite.  Thus, “they were worshiping him (Satan) them Jews” (not worshiping Yahweh), who was working “to destroy” their souls.  As this was their inner voice and guide, “they plotted to destroy Jesus.”


Following a comma mark, this is explained as “because not alone he was destroying this sabbath.”  This is less about Jesus telling healed men to pick up their mats and walk and more about the sabbath being every day since the Son of Yahweh was Created, for the purpose of Yahweh Saving souls.  The Pharisees were “not alone,” as they were possessed by Satan’s demon spirits.   This means “he” who “was destroying” was Satan killing souls; and he was doing it by leading them to misunderstand the sabbath and the Law.


This then leads to a comma mark leading to the word “nevertheless,” which introduces another kai, meaning that which is “contrary” to the “sabbath” is importantly “Father separate he was bringing word to” relative to “this God” they worshiped.  While the Pharisees gave credit to Yahweh as an important “God” (capitalized Theon), Satan (as an eternal spirit-soul) is a “God,” who loves to have influence over those souls he wants to destroy.  The Son, conversely, is also a “God,” where Jesus seeks those who are “separate” from Yahweh, to teach them the ways of the Father.  Satan, on the other hand, wants to keep those souls separate, so he influences his followers “to kill” those agents of Yahweh.


This then leads to another comma mark, where it appears the Pharisees saw Jesus [as the healed man speaking of him] as making himself out to be a “God,” when it was them who were doing more as the Law police, while knowing nothing of the meaning to the Law.  Thus, John wrote, “equal himself committing to this God.”  This says the pot was calling the kettle black, when the Pharisees saw Jesus as saying he was Yahweh (when he spoke the truth of the Father), because they were “committing to this God” Satan by saying Jesus was not as he claimed.  This made them think they were “Gods” with all-knowing powers, when they knew nothing of value, relative to Yahweh Saving souls.


These verses, simply due to Jesus being presented in brackets, must be understood as an important statement about true Christians at all times, where Jesus must be born again from above into each soul-body that submits fully unto Yahweh, out of love and commitment (divine marriage).
