The serpent of Eden
I watched a commercial on television the other day (does television actually show anything other than commercials?) that was for some free four-week online course, taught by some religious institution, which would teach enrollees the meaning of the Book of Genesis. Some professor (I guess) made some comment like people could ask questions like, “How would the snake be punished by crawling on its belly, when that’s what snakes do?”

The staff of Moses
In Exodus chapter four, Moses asks Yahweh, “What if I go to Egypt and no one believes you told me to lead them away?”

Poll question of the day
Based on what Nostradamus wrote that seems to be not too far into our future, here is a scenario to ponder: There is coming a war the Muslims will deem 'holy,' although anything involving murder can never fulfill the base requirements of that word. The grand plan is for a global sudden ignition of warfare, where all the millions of illegal migrants will play a major role in the onset of this war. They are near you , whether or not you realize it. Because so much of the Chr

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Sunday's TV sermon was centered on the last portion of Matthew 5, which the NRSV places a header that says, “Concerning Retaliation.”

Realizing why I do this
From my first days of being led to understand the meaning of The Prophecies of Nostradamus, I also was led to understand the meaning of people refusing to be told, “Hey! You need to see this!”

The History Channel trying to figure out the Garden of Eden
I watched parts of History’s Greatest Mysteries on the History Channel tonight. This week they decided they would banter about inuendo concerning the physical evidence that proves where the Garden of Eden was/is.

The Ark of the Covenant
Recently, I had a visit from a couple of young Mormon missionaries. I invited them in (it was cold outside) and I was asked if I was religious. I told the one young man who asked that I am. He then asked if I was Christian. Again, I told him I am. He then asked me if I go to church. I told him I am a temple.

David as a nerd
A thought came to me the other night as I was drifting off to sleep, which told me to look at David through a new set of eyes. Rather than seeing him as a mighty warrior, tall, muscular, and brave [those were Saul’s traits], see him as a scrawny, yet flexible nerd-like person. The image of Woody Allen in Bananas came to mind. For most of the world not alive in 1971, who might not have seen the movie, here is a clip to the idea of the David image that flashed across my mind

Hope as Job and Paul
Today’s sermon on television (my favorite preacher) addressed the following elements of Scripture: hope; with Paul writing about it and Job displaying it.

A lesson in Hope
I watched a television pastor preach about hope this morning. What he said was confusing, as he was connecting hope to a promise from Yahweh (who he called “God”). The pastor spoke of Abram and Sarai being old in years, thus Sarai was beyond child-bearing capability. He said, "Because God had promised them children, they had hope, which was based on faith.”
